November 12, 2006, Joslin's Canadian Open Championships

First off Toronto BJJ coaches and management want to say how proud we are of the way everyone pulled together to work as a team. This tournament is Canada's largest and most prestigious, drawing competitors from across the country and the united States. Some divisions had over 50 competitors in them.  You may have noticed that we leave out the names of the competitors when giving a recap of our tournament results. This is a conscious decision to emphasize the team work that every competitor has benefited from. We train as a team and a family, and the results are shared by all. I know, I know, enough already get to the results!!! With so many matches going on in three different rooms it was impossible to recap all the results, the following is a recap of our podium placing. August 13, 2006 Toronto BJJ ers make their mark @ Pennsylvania State BJJ Open

This weekend 4 competitors from Toronto BJJ made the trip south of the border to test their skills. We competed in six divisions with the following results:

Mens White Belt

  • 148- Gold
  • 174.5- lost in first round by points
The opponent refused to tap to an armbar, and was unable to continue in the tournament.
  • 187- Gold
  • Absolute- Bronze & 4th
The 4th place competitor chose to fight his weight class final instead of contesting the semi-finals, after winning his  1st match by submission. Somehow the guy who he submitted in the 1st round went on to win the division.

Mens Blue Belt

  • 214 plus- Gold
  • Absolute- Gold

You may have noticed that we have recently begun to leave out the names of the competitors when giving a recap of our tournament results. This is a conscious decision to emphasize the team work that every competitor has benefited from. We train as a team and a family, and the results are shared by all.
